OPEN STUDIOS - Weekend No. 01

Sweeping + wiping + mounting + hanging + putting things in the cupboard =
tidy(ish) studionumbersix open all weekend.

Thank you to all who visited, chatted and shopped at the weekend -
We're open again this weekend (from 11-5) and looking forward to more of the same!

We are opening studionumbersix as part of Open Studios, Cornwall this weekend (+bank holiday Monday) and next. We'd love you to come up and see us - there'll be illustration, design, prints, paintings, books, letterpress and all else we can muster on show and for sale. If you need directions you can see a map here, for more information about the 15 other Trewidden artists you can go here, and you can see a video of some of us working here.

The gardens are beautiful and if you collect one of our flyers you get half price entry (just £2.25 we think). And after you've seen all the studios and been round the gardens, you'll almost certainly need one of the cafe's marvellous cream teas.
Hope to see you there.

If you'd like to buy one of these limited first edition books, you can do so by contacting us: studionumbersix@hotmail.co.uk and telling us your email address / contact details, and we'll sort out payment through paypal and postage (around £2 to UK).

If you need any more information, or want to get in touch then send us an email. Thanks folks!

MR & MRS GREN: All finished!

We've finished!
All forty copies are now guillotined, hand numbered and encased in a grey letter-pressed slip to keep them neat and clean. They do look smart.
We'll be posting information tomorrow about how they can be purchased, so do please check back if you'd like one.

MR & MRS GREN: a pair of sample pages from the book

A pair of pages (one from each chapter) showing Memory (top) and Reproduction (above). Obviously they look much better in their dark black silk screened final form in the book.

MR & MRS GREN: Finale

Day six: Our last day in the gallery's pop-up-studio today, and we managed to put together all forty of our books - the last one was completed moments before five 'o' clock - without falling out. Hooray! The books just need a trip to the printers to have their pages neatly guillotined round the edges and then we'll be done. They'll be getting trimmed next week, so will be on sale soon and we'll let you know how you may purchase one.
It's been a super week, thanks to everyone who visited, encouraged us and showed interest.
MR & MRS GREN: day five - covers, final printing and more cutting

Day five - We silkscreened the covers and the grey portrait pages. We trimmed all the inner pages and stacked them to flatten overnight in satisfying piles, and we talked to lots of encouraging visitors. (And we ran out of battery on the camera, oops.)

MR & MRS GREN: day four - cutting

Day four: Sharp pencil, sharp knife, sharp eyes - masses of cutting today, covers are ready to be printed tomorrow and the first few pages are cut to size.

MR & MRS GREN: day three - screenprinting

Day three: 7 hours, 5 screens, 90 magnets, 4 coffees, 225 prints, 1 screen wash unit (£14.89)

MR & MRS GREN: day two - prep.

First day in the gallery space: cleaned up, wiped down, unpacked, displayed research, taped screens, cut a test cover, made a depth guage and tested our binding. Tomorrow = 1st day of screen printing.

MR & MRS GREN: day one - letterpress

Here we go! Today we hand~letterpressed some text pages for the book.
